I have always made the claim that I am not tech savvy, but I think it might be more accurate to simply say that I don’t like technology. Yes, I have to use it every day, which has required me to be at least competent when it comes to computers, software programs, and smartphones. But in general, I stay away from the latest trends. I don’t have an Instagram account, I am only vaguely aware of what Vine is, and in almost two years of having my iPhone 5, I have downloaded about 3 apps. So on the rare occasion that I do find an app that I really like, the first thing I want to do is tell you about it!
I was recently made aware of TodayTix, “a free app, created by Broadway producers, to buy discount theater tickers in New York City for today and this week.” Let’s take a minute to recap:
- It’s free. Personally, I have never paid for an app and don’t think I ever will.
- It will help you get discount tickets to shows playing that night.
- The downside? It only is only available in NYC, so only those actually in the city or planning a visit will benefit from this app.
The good news is that they are working on expanding their reach, so you may be able to use the app to get cheap tickets to great shows in theaters near you soon. I also happen to be a terrible planner and while I keep up with current events happening around the world, I am often oblivious to events like concerts and shows that are happening right in town. Basically, if you like free things that will help you get into cools things for cheaper, and you are a poor planner (me) then TodayTix is a great app.
